Dr. Oz Cleanse Review – 1 Week Later

A week ago today, I was on the Dr. Oz 48 Hour Weekend Cleanse.  At the time, I wasn’t so thrilled about it.  It was a 70 degree day and most everyone else was out celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day.  It would have been the perfect day to be out having a few beers at our favorite … Continue reading

Cleanse – Day 2 Recap

So here’s my recap of the second 24 hours of the Dr. Oz 48-Hour Weekend Cleanse. Again, I think I did pretty well.  But all I’m thinking about now is how I can’t wait for my cranberry and flaxseed oatmeal tomorrow morning…

Kale, Pineapple and Ginger Detox Drink

Kale, Pineapple and Ginger Detox Drink

No changes to the original recipe.  With my math, this works out to 71 calories per drink, but is a high estimate given the amount of pulp left in the juicer.  I’d be lying if I said this was good, but it wasn’t terrible either.  That’s getting to be a theme of this detox…

Cleanse – Day 1 Recap

Cleanse – Day 1 Recap

So here’s my recap of the first 24 hours of the Dr. Oz 48-Hour Weekend Cleanse. Overall, I think I did pretty good.  My coffee is probably what saved me from completely going off the rail.  I wasn’t starving, which was good.  When I woke up this morning though?  Absolutely starving.

Vegetable (not so brothy) Broth Soup

First, the title of this recipe is really misleading.  I think the intention was to eat the vegetables and not just drain them and drink the broth.  At least that’s what I gathered from a forum on Dr. Oz’s site.

Blueberry Banana Flaxseed Smoothie

Blueberry Banana Flaxseed Smoothie

I’m quite behind on my cleanse today.  I haven’t eaten any of the vegetable snacks yet, have only had one serving of the detox drink, and lunch (the smoothie below) wasn’t until 2:30pm.  I doubt I’ll be able to get through everything before the food cut off at 7pm…

Quinoa With Chopped Prunes

Quinoa With Chopped Prunes

The one nice thing about this cleanse is that you can eat food.  It’s not really designed for weight loss, but more to detox your organs through eating/drinking clean and minimally processed foods.  Sounds great right now, but as I write this I’m only 6 hours in.  We’ll see what 7pm brings.

Cleansing…

I’ve been eating/drinking like crap the last three weeks.  In an effort to clean up my act, I’m giving the Dr. Oz 48 Hour Cleanse a shot.  I’ll post the recipes and my progress here over the next two days.

Acceptance

There is no substitute for real macaroni and cheese.  Our house smells really gross right now and the taste in my mouth is unexplainable.  Never again.
